Ireland - Dublin

I'm sitting at a hotel desk in Dublin, Ireland, jet-lagged and tired but satisfied with the things we've accomplished in the last couple of days.  We spent most of yesterday in the Boston airport.  We had hoped to go into the city, but rainy weather kept us from venturing out.  We left the United States at 9:00 last night and landed in Dublin at 8:00 this morning.  We flew with Aer Lingus, and were very impressed with their service and the comfortable flight.  By some miracle, our hotel room was ready early, so we promptly broke the cardinal rule of eastward travel and crashed for a few hours.  We spent the afternoon in the Dublin city center and had a great time.

Starting out out at Trinity College, we stood in front of the Book of Kells which has been dubbed the most beautiful book in the world—I would concur with this statement.  The small visitor center and museum was well-appointed, and we learned about the monks who created this masterpiece.  Homeschool history credit too!  From there we spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Dublin and wound up eating an incredible meal of Irish stew and fish and chips in a tavern near the river.  A pint of Guiness may or may not have been consumed.

The last few days have been a blur, but they've been full of warm visits with family and friends, many people we love praying over us, and the whirlwind of starting this adventure.  Needless to say, I'm headed to bed soon.  Tomorrow we pick up the rental car, and I have to drive my family into County Cork using a stick shift on the wrong side of the car while driving on the wrong side of the road.  Pray for me.......
